My Makeup Collection & Storage 2016

21:05

I was going through my makeup the other day and doing a bit of organising when I decided to put together a little post on all of my makeup and storage. I used to keep all of my makeup in clear acrylic Muji drawers but they started looking a bit messy when my makeup collection started to grow a little more, so I decided to transfer it all into my drawers and I'm finally happy with how it's all stored and how it looks.

The majority of my makeup lives in these Alex 9 drawers from Ikea. I find that they're perfect for makeup as everything seems to fit nicely. The drawers are a little on the flimsy side so it's best not to over-fill them, but for my little collection, they're great.

On the top here is where I keep all of my perfumes like my favourite Tom Ford Velvet Orchid and my signature scent which is Narciso Rodriguez hiding at the back. I also have these two adorable little rose gold ring holders from Next which hold my Empty Casket rings.

This first drawer is where I keep my lip balms, concealers, foundations and a few eye/brow products. The plastic compartments are from Muji and I love them because they fit into the Alex drawers so well - they're also really reasonably priced which is a plus. As you can see, I have quite a lot of foundations but I always like to try different ones out. A few of my favourite foundations here are the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, Nars Sheer Glow and the Becca Aqua Luminous is a beautiful foundation when I'm having a good skin day. I also have things like my trusty Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, Nars Creamy Radiant concealer, MAC Uninterrupted eyeshadow (which I'm clinging on to as they've now discontinued it!!) and my Hourglass Brow Sculpting pencil.

This next drawer down is one of my favourites because it stores my babies - highlighters. I also have my mascaras, some bronzers, powders and then my lip liners in here because they just fit well into this space. At the back I have some eyelash curlers and my beloved UD All Nighter Setting Spray. I love the Nars Light Reflecting powder for every day and the Laura Mercier Loose Setting powder for under-eyes. I literally love all of these highlighters but the two I'm reaching for the most just recently are Becca's Pearl in pressed and The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. As you can see, I'm a fan of MAC lip liners and they're the only ones I have at the moment, other than two Charlotte Tilbury ones. I just think they're really good to be honest and they have so many different colours to choose from.

The third drawer down is a bit random...there are some more of my bronzing/contouring products in here, some lip products that I don't tend to use that much, all of my primers, blushers and then a few skincare bits at the back like my good old Liz Earle Eight Hour Cream, Sudocrem (it's a must in everyone's household I think), a few spot gels and my Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturiser which I use every day. Once of my favourite bronzers of all time is Benefit's Hoola bronzer - I love it for contouring as it doesn't really have any orange in it. My go-to primers at the moment are the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot. I do have a Smashbox Anti-Blemish primer underneath the others which I don't really use that much as I found it to be a bit shit - I want to like it though as it cost me about £30! I'd say that I probably use all of the blushers in this little section to the right. I really like the Max Factor Creme Puff blushers, the H&M cream blushers and Benefit's Rockateur.

Here I have my palettes drawer which I enjoy a lot. At the back are two of my MAC eyeshadow palettes, along with a MAC blusher palette. I have the ABH contour kits in the powder and cream versions which are probably two of my most used products ever. The Lime Crime Venus palettes are also amazing and the original Naked palette which is my favourite of the Naked palettes. I honestly love everything that's in this drawer - my Becca Ombre Rouge palette which I use almost every day, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit which is a dream and then a few other random smaller palettes.

(My favourites - left to right: Maximillian Strasse-Her, Angora Cardi, Merino Cool)

This drawer is less makeup filled but is the last 'beauty' related section in this set of drawers, the rest are filled with important adult documents (UGH). Anyway, here I have a few pairs of sunglasses which didn't really have a home, my tangle teaser, a box of eyelashes, samples and products that I've not yet opened or used and my nail polishes at the front. I had a bit nail polish clear out a while ago and am left with these few. They're all either Essie or Barry M as I find that those work the best for me and have the prettiest colours. I really like dusky tones on my nails, whatever the time of year. Also, the Bourjois nail polish remover is bloody a-mazing - it literally takes your nail polish off in a couple of seconds!

On top of my chest of drawers is where I like to keep all of my lipsticks, liquid lipsticks and my rose gold Zoeva brushes. I like them being here as I can see all of the lipsticks and I find that they're easily accessible which means I never forget about them. I think I have about 33 MAC lipsticks which is a little bit crazy, but I love them all so much. I recently tried to have a bit of a clear-out, but failed miserably after looking at each one and deciding I actually like them all. I also may have had a cheeky peek at the MAC site and now have my eye on a few more - eek! I try to keep them in a bit of an order, so nudes, then pinks, brights, and then the dark ones and I also find this helpful when deciding on a shade for the day. In this right acrylic lipstick holder I also have some Topshop lipsticks, some Kat Von D liquid lipsticks at the back, which are actually new to my collection and then some other random brands. In the mini acrylic drawers below my pot of brushes and cotton buds, I have my Lime Crime Velvetines (my babies) and two of my most loved lipsticks which are the Estée Lauder x Kendall Jenner Pure Colour Envy and Tom Ford Indian Rose. This is also where I keep my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat pencils as I tend to reach for them quite often, my NYX Matte Lip Creams, Collection Cream Puffs and a The Balm liquid lipstick. As you can see, some more of my sunglasses and my Tatcha dewy skin mist live here, along side my Fix+, which is actually on its last legs after I broke the lid and it leaked everywhere.

I hope you've enjoyed having a little peek into my makeup collection, and also seeing how I store everything. I'm sorry that you're not able to see everything, but I figured that this post might get a little lengthy and boring if I mentioned every single product, ha! Thanks for reading :)
