Nivea Men Post Shave Balm - Does It Really Work?
17:14
I think every makeup enthusiast and their grandma has bought this product recently after the amazing Nikkie Tutorials raved about it in a few of her videos. So, the question is, is it worth the hype? In my opinion, yes, it is very much worth the hype. I think I paid about three or four pounds for mine in Superdrug, which is insane if it's going to end up being my 'holy grail' primer. I'm pretty sure the bottle is glass as well... Imagine this product in Chanel packaging for example - you'd be paying killer bucks!
At first I was a tad skeptical with it being a mens product, as you would be, but I was soon converted. As you'd imagine, when you're applying it to your face, it does smell a bit manly, but it's not a scent that really sticks around after applying all of your other face products. Nikkie says to massage it into the skin and once it's at its 'tacky' stage, to start applying your foundation. I always moisturise before applying my makeup, so although this product does have the consistency of a moisturiser, think of it as your primer. I've heard a lot of people like to use a beauty blender to apply foundation on top of this product, however, I've found that either that or a nice buffing brush works for me.
The main reason that the Post Shave Balm stands out is because it contains Glycerin which essentially makes your makeup 'stick'. I find that my foundation blends really nicely on top of this product and it really does stay all day. I wear a lot of turtle necks and scarves so I find that the makeup on my chin never usually lasts that long but when using this, I find it does help a lot. I'm constantly on the hunt for THE perfect primer - I've literally got a stash of them in my drawer. I definitely think that if you're after a primer that makes your makeup last, you should pick this one up, and it's like four quid?! You can't go wrong.
