New Beauty Bits

I've really had the makeup bug recently and have a bit of a splurge, so I thought I'd share with you what I've been buying recently from Space NK.
The first thing I picked up was the Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation. I popped in especially for my Nars Sheer Glow but as they didn't have it in my shade, I thought I'd try something different. I'm not completely blown away by this foundation - I know they changed the formula which a lot of people weren't happy about. However, I never tried the original formula so I had nothing to compare it to. It's ok, it does the job but I wouldn't say it's a holy grail. Whilst in Space NK, the lady asked me which bronzer I used (I didn't have any on that day) and I told her I usually used something like Nars Laguna. She told me she thought that would be too harsh on my pale complection and suggested I try the Laura Mercier baked powder, so I also purchased that. I really love the bronzer - she was right, it does look much better on me than Laguna. It's really soft and silky and blends beautifully onto the skin. There's no shimmer in the bronzer but as it's baked and so fine, it creates a lovely radiance.
After trying out the Laura Mercier foundation for a week or so, I decided that I needed Nars Sheer Glow back in my life so I went online and luckily they had my shade! This is definitely my favourite foundation. It has the perfect amount of coverage, doesn't make me look oily or cling to any dry patches. It just makes my skin look really fresh and glowy. Whilst on the Space NK site, I also popped the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in my basket. I spent a while umming and ahhing whether to get Pearl or Champagne Pop and after a while decided to go for Pearl as it looked really different to any of my other highlighters. It's a beautiful white pearlescent pressed highlighter which looks so pretty when applied, especially on the tip of my nose. Becca highlighters are so silky and fine and also really damn pigmented, so you don't need a lot on your brush.
I went back into the store last weekend as I'd run out of my Cleanse and Polish so I was after something different. I decided to go for the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm as I'd heard a lot of people talking about it and it contains a lot of ingredients which are beneficial for your skin. I've been using it for a week and I'm really liking it so far. It literally melts off my makeup and leaves my skin feeling so clean. I also picked up some Malin + Goetz Salicylic Gel as I've been having a bit of trouble with my skin lately and this product is supposed to kill bacteria and fight acne and breakouts. I've found that it's been pretty good so far. It definitely reduces blemishes and makes them look a lot less angry. Another thing I went into the shop for was the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. I love this product. For a tiny pot, it does seem pretty extortionate but you only need the tiniest bit and I can guarantee it'll last a heck of a long time. You can either add it to your primer, moisturiser or foundation or use it as a concealer. So far, I've used it with a light coverage serum foundation and it just adds coverage without the cakiness and creates a flawless base. It's also incredible to conceal blemishes, redness or pigmentation in the skin - it's really heavy duty so covers like a dream. Again, you only need a pin-sized amount to cover a blemish. The last thing I decided to purchase was the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil. I'd been wanting this for a while but didn't know if I could justify spending that sort of money on an eyebrow pencil. At first, I didn't get on with it very well and I was really annoyed as it was quite pricey, but I've been persevering, using light brush strokes and using the brush on the end to blend everything through and I'm starting to really love it. It honestly makes your brows look so natural, but full too.
I've definitely already been way too spendy this month, but I'm really happy with my purchases and excited to be trying out new brands. I think I better steer clear of Space NK for a while as the girls in there now recognise me...definitely a sign of having a makeup obsession!
