Kylie Lip Kits | First Impression & Swatches

18:00

I did it. I managed to get my hands on some Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits and after a very stressful ordering/shipping process, I have finally received them - read up about my experience with the company here.

I was extremely happy when my postman put the two boxes down in front of me. As soon as I saw the packaging I couldn't contain my excitement. I opened them up and straight away swatched all of the colours on my hand and from first swipe, I knew these babies were going to be good. I ordered six lip kits in total - four for myself and two for my sister. The colours I chose were Dolce K, Candy K, Koko K and 22.

The kits come with a lip liner and a liquid lipstick. Starting with the lip liners, these are extremely soft and creamy and glide onto your lips like an absolute dream. Because they're such a creamy formula, it's really easy to overdraw your lips and make them look fuller. I don't think that the liners are completely necessary, but they are a nice addition to the kit. I can definitely see myself pairing these liners with a load of my other lipsticks, or even wearing them on their own.

Onto the liquid lipsticks, now these are bloody amazing. The formula is very thin, which I think makes them easy to apply. You only need a small amount to cover your lips and they dry within 30 seconds to a minute. Once they're dry, they're completely matte and honestly don't even feel like you have anything on your lips. I have a few liquid lipsticks which, whilst being great, can feel a little bit heavy on the lips - these do not feel heavy at all. I've tried all four of the shades out on my lips and I'm in love with them all. These lipsticks last so long once they're on - you can eat and drink throughout the day and they wont budge. Obviously it's a good thing that they're so long wearing but this also means that it can be a bit of a struggle to get them off...I have found myself scrubbing at my lips with a micellar water-soaked cotton pad. That is to be expected with a liquid lipstick though so it's no biggie! They smell really sweet - if you've ever smelt the Strawberry Buttercream Yankee Candle, that's the smell! I'm not overly keen on the sickly sweet smell, but it's ok - nothing that would put me off wearing them at all.

Dolce K and Candy K are both colours that I'd call true 'Kylie' shades. She seems to love her brown-nudes and these two seem to be heavily inspired by her love for nude lips. For some reason, Candy looks really similar to Dolce on the website, but they're completely different in real life. Candy being a softer nude with a little bit of pink in it - almost like the perfect pink-nude and Dolce is more of a brown-beige nude. I feel like these two would look great with any makeup look as they're both quite neutral. Koko K is a really pretty light pink nude and 22 is a gorgeous brick red/burnt orange - the kind of colour that I love to wear all year round. Koko is very much a Khloe Kardashian colour and I feel like 22 could be Taylor Swift inspired, but I'm not entirely sure!
