Welcome to New York, it's been waiting for you

21:31

So last month my boyfriend and I decided to take a spontaneous trip to New York for our three year anniversary. I'd usually spend a lot of time thinking about something like this before making up some sort of excuse not to go, but I had wanted to go to New York for SO long that I really couldn't pass up the opportunity, so I conquered my anxieties and took the plunge!

I've added quite a few photos to show what we got up to whilst in the city...

Enjoy! X

We spent the first day wandering down Fifth Avenue to Union Square which was really lovely as the whole city was covered in thick snow.
And no, those weren't real snowmen... I know, I was shocked too!

Now, I don't think you can really take a trip to the Big Apple and not explore Macy's. I didn't think you could get much bigger than London's Selfridges or Harrods, but apparently, Macy's tops them both. We did manage to have a mooch around every floor and even found a McDonalds in there... Yes, Macy's has its own McDonalds - insane!

I think Times Square was my favourite place to visit at night; people everywhere and so many exciting shops and restaurants. The whole place was lit up and looked so beautiful, the atmosphere was amazing. We finished off the night with the most delicious burgers at the Hard Rock Cafe, which was also amazing...and the people in there were super friendly.

Central Park looked so pretty in the snow. It was really quite strange to step off the busy streets and onto such a huge park in the middle of the city! We basally walked as far as we could, taking in the views until our legs couldn't take much more.

Going up to the Top of the Rock was insane, utterly petrifying for someone scared of heights, but the views were incredible.

Bubba Gump is definitely another must when in New York. Both Ross and myself absolutely love shrimp so this place was perfect, although we may have ordered a tad too much food and not been able to finish all... How good do those drinks look though?! Mmmm.

We decided to spend one of our days in Lower Manhattan where we visited the 9/11 Memorial and of course the Statue of Liberty. The memorial ground was absolutely breathtaking and heartbreaking, as you can imagine. Seeing all the names on the walls surrounding the two waterfalls was very upsetting. However, I do think it is a lovely way to honour and remember the thousands of people who were killed during that awful time.

The rest of the time we spent exploring, shopping, taking photos of pretty lights and eating a hell of a lot of food! It was honestly the best trip I've ever been on and I definitely wouldn't say no to going again. If you ever get the chance to go, definitely do it - you won't regret it.

Thanks for reading :)
xx
